Argentina: National Curriculum

Argentina education system consists of four levels: primary, secondary and higher education. Argentine
education is governed by National Education Law 26.2063,which establishes  that education  is a public good, a personal and social right of individuals,for wich  the state must be responsible.
It also determines that education is compulsory between 5 and 18 years of age.


Special Educational Needs:

  • In Argentina they do take into account when referring to persons with special educational needs (handicapped, disabled, disability/impairment carriers, subjects with special educational needs).of disability/impairment, subjects with special educational needs), however, in this article the terminology "people with "special" educational needs" is adopted, as it is used in the latest official documents in Argentina. The objective of integration is to introduce a student, who was previously excluded, and the principle of inclusion, on the contrary, is not to leave anyone outside regular education, from the beginning of school life. Inclusive schools propose a way of organizing the educational system that takes into account the needs of all students

Christian Schools:

  • - In Argentina, the first independent governments strove to promote education in order to form active citizens. Imbued with the early revolutionary spirit, they attempted to create a system of popular education, including women and Indians. They eliminated the corporal punishments employed by teachers during the colonial era and imported new educational models. To this end, President Bernardino Rivadavia appointed James Diego Thompson as Director General of Schools in 1919.

Public And Private School:






  • This paper examines the differences in academic performance between students in public and private Argentinean schools. It uses the results of the PISA standardized tests in Argentina conducted in 2009 and 2012. These exams evaluate 15-year-old students in the areas of Mathematics, Reading and Science, in addition to collecting information about the student, his or her environment and the school he or she attends. Students attending private schools achieve (on average) significantly higher PISA test scores than their public school equivalents in both 2009 and 2012. This paper finds that in 2009 this difference can be explained by asymmetries in educational resources between the two types of schools. However, in 2012 the gap in terms of resources narrows considerably, while the difference in outcomes persists. We find evidence suggesting that this persistence is due to the fact that the differences in the socioeconomic composition of the student body between school types remain unchanged between 2009 and 2012. This suggests that the difference in average performance between private and public schools is due to socioeconomic aspects that affect the selection mechanisms between school types and that determine different and constant peer effects.

University in Argentina:

Colombia: National Curriculum

The Colombian education system consists of: early education, preschool education, basic education (five grades of primary school and four grades of secondary school), middle school (two grades, culminating in a bachelor's degree), and higher education.


Special Educational Needs:

  • In Colombian education is moving from a model of integration to a model of inclusion of students with disabilities; inclusive education gives the possibility of welcoming all students into the educational institution, regardless of their personal or cultural characteristics.

Christian School:





  • At the time of the community's incursion into the country, it was governed by the Constitution of 1886 and elements that turned the Catholic Church into an ideological bulwark of the State. The Catholic religion was declared the official religion of the nation, and at the same time the Church was given the administration of public education, fulfilling functions such as: determining the texts to be used in the teaching of morals, religion and philosophy, and the appointment of teachers (who had to profess the same religious and moral beliefs),1 among others.Thus, under the liberal administration, some politicians emphasized the need to eliminate the influence of the Church on education. Consequently, "some municipal and departmental administrations began to apply the policy of not renewing contracts with the religious communities that educated in official buildings and to create in their place secular State schools "3. Therefore, in the 1930s, the Brothers of the Christian Schools were removed from the administration of public schools, among them the Central Technical Institute4 and the Normal School of Instructors. During this period, the administration of schools was also taken away from the Jesuits and the Dominicans (in Chiquinquirá).

Public and Private School:

What is a better public or private school in Colombia?

  • The differences in favor of private schools are more marked in the middle and high income levels and, in fact, at the lowest income level, students in public schools have higher achievements.

University in Colombia:

  • At the postgraduate level, specializations, master's degrees and doctorates are recognized. There are also a series of diploma courses and other continuing education and education for work and human development courses, which in a few weeks or months allow the professional to learn new techniques or keep up to date. Master's, specialization or postgraduate studies are focused on enhancing updating, management and deepening skills, aimed at guaranteeing the growth of the productive sector.   • Finally, there is the doctoral level, which few universities are accredited to offer, and which seeks the training of researchers and the creation of new knowledge. Generally, doctorates are outside the investment levels that companies can afford, and are used in educational centers to promote the advancement of science.

Boarding School:

  • It is a private school, an institution that offers a comprehensive education for children, that is to say, it includes the teaching of school knowledge, values and discipline, among other things. In Colombia there is a lot of delinquency and rebellious children and boarding schools work very well for them.

Differences and similarities:

-the differences are that in public schools the learning is much better than in private schools.
